Children of Christ,

Today let us meditate upon something that separates us from God.

Sin separates us from God. And the thing which paves way for sin to take root in us is laziness. The only thing, to which both youngsters and elders of this age are slaves to, is laziness.

An instance that clearly reflects this is, we earnestly try to pray on our knees but often fail to do so. And even if we have succeeded in praying on our knees, that prayer doesn’t last for more than ten minutes.

Certain reasons evident to this is,

1. Desire for the lusts of the world.
2. Being lazy and
3. Lust itself.

All this prevent us from thinking about the kingdom of God.

Satan has held our minds captive through sin. And dears, we are the sole reason for satan to hold our minds captive. Shocking!? Simple, how can somebody enter a room without a door first?

And we deprive ourselves from having a relationship with God and live a life where God is nobody to us. It’s hard to think how somebody can live that way!

Just imagine how grateful we would be to a friend who has sacrificed something for us. Jesus created this whole world. But still He gave His precious life for insignificant people like us. And for this we have to be grateful to Jesus all our life. But we are not so. One person who can help us in being grateful is the Holy Spirit. Often we are not able to receive this person of the Holy Spirit, the reason being laziness. But how’s that?

The Bible clearly tells us, ‘Those who seek Me early in the morning shall find Me.’ But often sleep prevents us from getting up early in the morning. This is part of the flesh and our flesh often dominates our Spirit.

Also, getting ourselves involved in the worldly things when we ought to pray keeps us back from living a holy life. Only when we spend time in prayer we become more holy and holiness can break the chains of sin.

But we fail in the initial step to holiness and that is prayer.

The Bible tells us in Proverbs 13:4,

“The soul of a lazy man desires and has nothing.”

We all have a desire to live a holy life, but we don’t. And that’s what the Bible teaches us too!

We are lazy and fail to pray consistently. All of a sudden we pray just for a day and want to receive the person of the Holy Spirit. How can that be?!!

We want to receive the Holy Spirit without any sacrifice. This is our intention. But look at Jesus, how much He suffered for you and me and gave His life for us. Why not give it a thought?

The Bible declares in Proverbs 22:29,

“Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.”

Even so, if we have to stand before kings, we need to have a prayerful life. And this life of prayer can make us holy and help us to win souls for His kingdom leading us finally into the eternal joy.

But what if we don’t pray? Laziness, worldly wealth, worries and attraction will take over us leading us to sin and ultimately to hell.

Sin should never dominate us but we should dominate sin. God did not create us to live it, but to destroy it.

Our thoughts must always be dominated by the Holy Spirit. And He can dominate us only when we have a holy life which can only be attained through a prayerful life. But the youth often fail in leading a prayerful life hence allowing satan to enter their life.

And when sin enters our life we hesitate to pray thinking Jesus is very holy and He won’t listen to my prayers because I’m a sinner. But this thought was only sown by satan in our minds and slowly he takes us away from our Lord Jesus.

So dear friends, let’s start to pray early in the morning and for hours. It makes us more holy than before. And by doing this we prevent sin and satan to enter our lives. So, let’s do away with laziness and start praying. Stop loving the wealth of this world as it would hamper your prayer life.

Now, at this moment let’s take a new decision, to pray early in the morning, live a holy life and eliminate laziness.
